I moved to Finland from my native UK in May 2013, where I developed a fondness for Sauna and Floorball (but not Salmiakki!). Along with research I also taught at the University of Helsinki and co-ordinated the Masters level course Population Biology in Fragmented Landscapes.

In April 2016 I moved to Uppsala University, Sweden to start a postdoctoral position in wolf conservation genomics in the lab of Prof. Hans Ellegren. Along with my research I also currently teach on the Population Genomics and Evolutionary Genetics courses in Uppsala.

I am also the host of the Slightly Evolved Podcast, a weekly science show where we talk about some of the latest ecology and evolution research, and meet the researchers behind it. You can find all our episodes on Soundcloud or download/subscribe on iTunes! I have also acted as curator for the @realscientists twitter account, communicating our research to as wide an audience as possible.

Whilst in Helsinki I played bass guitar in two bands, Jäänmurtaja and IKO IKO. After struggling with Finnish I am now attempting (poorly) to learn some (a little) Swedish.
