Genetic diversity can dramatically change over small periods of time
Uncovering the mechanisms underlying these changes in diversity is important to understand evolutionary and demographic processes, and has crucial implications for the conservation of threatened species. To achieve this I am using historical samples of intensely studied wild populations and employing whole genome re-sequencing approaches.
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Ellegren Group at the Department of Evolutionary Biology at Uppsala University, Sweden. My current research is focused on Scandinavian wolves, investigating changes in the populations genetic diversity since its founding in the early 1980s.
I am also the host of the Slightly Evolved Podcast, a weekly science show where we talk about some of the latest ecology and evolution research, and meet the researchers behind it. You can find all our episodes on Soundcloud or download/subscribe on iTunes!
